The Pub was converted from a shop in the 1950’s which then went on to produce its own beers this sadly came to a end when the pub was sold, The Tap is renowned for its real ales at its most there was 13 pumps working at one time, however over the years things changed The Tap is now well known for its live music every weekend plus Karaoke on Sundays. This pub is named after Sir John Baker who lived in North End House, close to this Wetherspoon pub. Sir John Baker, Lord Mayor of the Borough (1870 and 1875), was known as Honest John.
